Details: Mint seeds are small, so it is best to grow them indoors in a controlled environment. Start in peat pots 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost. Sprinkle tiny seeds directly onto the soil surface without covering it with any topsoil, because the seeds need light to germinate properly. When the weather gets warmer and all the danger of frost has passed, transplant the peppermint herb into a larger pot or container. If you sow directly outdoors, please note that mint can be spread by underground runners, so it is best to sow in pots or in confined areas. Peppermint herb has good adaptability in lighting. They can grow in full sun or partly shaded places, and need a temperature of at least 70F to grow. The soil can be rich in organic matter, or it can be barren and sandy, as long as it has good drainage. To increase drainage, we recommend adding light compost to any area composed of hard, dense soil. Water the soil with a light fog set or spray bottle every day to avoid damage and/or wash off the mint seeds.
